Linda’s one-person show at Studio Eleven Gallery, Hull will exhibit the first stages of the GATHER winter-winter project this May and June.
Work that has been created through interacting with coastal locations on the south bank of the Humber Estuary, in particular the Far Ings National Nature Reserve at Barton on Humber and the RSPB reserve at Blacktoft Sands, will be on show in a physical exhibition for the first time during this project which begun in December 2020.
The majority of the pieces on show are from the winter months into spring, and have mostly been created in Linda’s home studio during lockdown due to covid-19, whilst the Blacktoft selection includes some pieces developed from fieldwork at Horseshoe meadow gathered during 2018 and 2019 responding to the meadow in summer, and a line of Ash trees that line the eastern-most edge. The Far Ings work has resolved into an ongoing series entitled Inside Land, is created mainly in watercolour and plays very much with composition in an attempt to search the ‘inner’ life of the reserve.
